"There are trillions of searches on Google every year. In fact, 15 percent of searches we see every day are new"
Google have reiterated their figure of 15% when stating how many of the searches they receive on a daily basis have never been searched for before. They claimed to receive a mind blowing 2 trillion searches a year in 2016.
It's important to remember that despite these searches never being used before, when they are used Google are able to come up with the most relative results possible in an instant. It's important to aim for existing popular search terms that have a regular flow of traffic when you're optimising your website but remember that as long as your websites provides value and is filled with topically relevant content your site will find it's way into the results naturally with very little effort.
No I'm not saying that the search terms that pull in thousands of searches a day are just going to fall into your lap but with strong meaningful foundations your website will have a fighting chance with some external SEO assistance.
Get the foundations wrong and your website will either never see the light on Googles search pages, or appear for a short time and burn out of existence.
They say 'Content is King' but I disagree, 'Great Content is King'.
